How Can We Help You?

Find answers to frequently asked questions from professionals seeking WETT certification. Please contact us if you can't find a satisfactory answer to your question.

All declaration forms must be accompanied by a letter of reference, which must be signed and dated by the referee and attached to the declaration form. This letter can be from an employer, another WETT member, supplier, or authority having jurisdiction, and must include the following:

  • The referee’s relationship to the applicant.
  • The length of time the referee has known the applicant.
  • The type of work the applicant has done with wood burning appliances (i.e., inspections, sales, installations and/or chimney sweeping).
  • Acknowledgement that the applicant has at least 80 weeks of field experience. For inspectors seeking SITE Basic Inspection certification, this letter must also state that they have completed at least 30 inspections of wood-burning appliances.

Your wall certificate and wallet card will be sent to you once you have met all criteria for certification, which means you must complete your exam (at least 70%) and provide a correctly completed Mandatory Declaration of Field Experience form.

Failure to accurately complete your declaration form may result in further delay of your certification.

For information on your “certification” please contact us. AWETM does not take care of the certifications.

Please contact us about your certificates or certification as AWETM does not take care of memberships or the handing out of certifications.

A letter will be sent to you within eight (8) weeks from the date that the Registrar receives your exam at the WETT Inc. office. Please keep in mind that, at any one time, the office is processing numerous exams from all over the country. Therefore, it is not always possible for you to receive your results as quickly as you would prefer. We appreciate your patience.

Please note that WETT Inc. sends out the marks and certification. If you have any problems, contact WETT Inc at 1-888-358-9388.

Cancellations must be received in writing (letter, fax, e-mail). If your cancellation is received more than 10 business days prior to the course start date, you will receive a refund of 90% of the course price. If the manuals cannot be reused by someone else, then you will be responsible for the $350 cost. If your cancellation is received 3-10 business days prior to the course start date, you will receive a refund of 75% of the course price, after you return the manuals in pristine condition, or the above costs apply. If your cancellation is received 0-2 business days prior to the course start date, you will receive a credit toward a future course. If cancellations become a habit, a 25% service fee will be charged. (We schedule courses based on participants. If you register and don’t show up, then we may end up doing courses without our minimum required number of participants. This outcome is unfair to all. At least let us know that you will not be coming) If you wish to cancel out of a course, you may return your manuals in pristine condition for a refund, less shipping costs. If the manuals cannot be reused by someone else, then you will be responsible for the $350 cost.

For the Code Compliance course, full payment (or at least 50%) will be processed soon after your registration is received so that course materials can be sent to you in advance. In preparation for the course, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the entire WETT manual. It is your responsibility to ensure that payment reaches our office in plenty of time to have your materials sent to you. Otherwise, you will have to pick them up at the course.

For all other courses, payments will only be processed once the course has been confirmed.

We do not charge PST or GST.

For Manitoba and Saskatchewan, please make cheque payable to AWETM-M and mail to:
AWETM
811 Day Street
Winnipeg, MB R2C 1B9

There is a $50 service charge for returned cheques.

Send in your completed registration form with full payment or a $300 deposit for the Code Compliance course. WETT’s policy requires full payment on or before the course date. If you do not pay in advance, you must bring your payment with you to the course. Otherwise, you may be denied access to the course and requested to enroll in a future course offering.

You will be notified of course locations once sufficient registrations are received. The sooner everyone registers, the sooner we can book a site and the sooner you will be informed via postings on our website. As soon as we find a location, we will post it on our website. If it is not posted, it is because we do not have a site booked yet. Please do not call the office asking about the location of the course unless you do not receive this information by the week before the course is due to start.

The viability of all courses depends on advanced registration. Please do not wait to see if the course has been confirmed before you register. If you and enough people choose to wait, the course in which you are interested will probably be cancelled due to lack of registrations. We can only count registrations that are received by us, and that arrive with deposit cheques. Verbal confirmations do not count. Please fill in a registration form and send it to us with your payment as soon as possible. If everyone sends in his/her registration in advance, chances are that your course will go ahead as scheduled.
